Message from The Chairman
Welcome to the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (BMB) community! We are a group of more than 25 faculties and staffs work together with undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate trainees as well as dedicated research and professional staff to advance our scientific, educational and service goals.
The BMB community is enthusiastically engaged in basic research to probe fundamental principles of the behaviors of molecules and cells, the organization of biological systems as well as to explore the hidden secrets behind the meaningful expression and existence of life processes. The BMB professionals are committed to explore the molecular mechanisms that keep humans and other living species on good health and provide ways for a happy stay on this planet for generations. Biochemists and Molecular Biologists play big roles in finding the causes and remedies of different diseases which is defined as the deviation from the normal healthy conditions.
To meet the challenges of 21st century, the outbreak of infectious diseases, cancers, metabolic syndromes, vector borne diseases, respiratory disorders, climate changes, development of research capabilities in the field of life sciences are critically important because, the discipline is coined with all sorts of biochemical processes within cell and focuses on the molecular basis of biological processes in life. To fulfill those aims, the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU) was established in 2014 with Prof. Dr. Md. Alauddin as its founder chairman. Over the time this department has matured to be one of the leading and most victorious departments in not only MBSTU but also in Bangladesh with energetic and enthusiastic faculties committed to excellence in teaching at all levels and a wide range of research interest which provides an essential platform for research in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Genetics, Immunology, Microbiology, Neurosciences, Physiology, Pharmacology, Toxicology and Virology. The BMB department holds modernized curriculum for both academic and research purposes to meet the challenge of next decades. Hence, classrooms are in sound good with standard schooling aids equipped with computers, multimedia projectors and audio-visual systems. This department has five (5) research laboratories well equipped with modern laboratory tools for Master of Science (M.S.), Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) students and three (3) general laboratories for Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) students. Currently the Department offers B.Sc. and M.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology as well as M.Phil and PhD degree programs. Right now, the department has eleven (11) faculties; among them five (5) faculties already have Ph.D. degree in different areas of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from internationally reputed universities. Presently four (4) faculties are in abroad for pursuing their PhD. The global acknowledgment of the faculties and graduates has shed the department in a bright light compared to other department inside and outside of Bangladesh.
